Cloud Gaming and Gaming PC Update

Cloud gaming is needed to browse through the Xbox Cloud Gaming app, there are tons of titles ready to play right away. It would be great if hitting the share button gave us the choice to “Pin to Home Screen” for a specific game. That way, instead of always launching the main Cloud Gaming app and navigating through menus, we could have shortcuts like a “Destiny App” or “Forza App” directly on our phone’s Home Screen. With one tap, the game would open instantly—no need to open the cloud app, search for the game, visit its info page, and then click again to start playing.

Would anyone else find that handy? It would also give the feeling of actually owning a game library right on the Home Screen.

Also, as the title says—starting from October, will it still be possible to extend Game Pass Ultimate through rewards? From my experience, it seems not. Just last week I tried redeeming a Game Pass code. As usual, I went to apply it to my account, got the conversion notice, but then a generic error popped up. I reached out to Microsoft support, and they said the code now only works for accounts without an active Game Pass. I’ve been extending my GPU this way for months, but it no longer seems to work. If anyone has more details, please share.

Cloud gaming of microsoft’s cloud operations represent its fastest-expanding segment. In Q3 2022, the division posted $25.7 billion in revenue (a 24% year-over-year increase), and thanks to its strong margins, it has become a central pillar of Microsoft’s long-term growth agenda. Because of their interactive nature, video games are especially valuable customers for cloud platforms, as they demand more computing power than one-way formats such as film or music streaming. The more gaming properties Microsoft can bring under its umbrella that rely on cloud support, the greater its advantage. Additionally, as Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and cloud gaming adoption grow, Microsoft’s cloud business stands to gain even more momentum.

Consider the Activision Blizzard acquisition: prior to the deal, the Call of Duty maker maintained a multi-year contract with Google Cloud. Now, that workload is likely to migrate to Microsoft’s infrastructure. This means that beyond inheriting Activision’s roughly $8 billion in annual revenue, Microsoft also converts what used to be Activision’s outside cloud spending into internal cloud income — a shrewd move.

Even with some challenges around player engagement, Microsoft’s gaming roadmap remains solid. Coming out of the holiday season, it is positioned to be stronger than ever.

Gaming pc is organized to keep up with the most recent PC hardware releases, you’ve likely noticed a new acronym joining the usual CPU and GPU: NPU, short for Neural Processing Unit. Both Intel and AMD have started including NPUs in their latest chips, and many analysts consider them one of the most impactful innovations for PCs in decades. So, what is an NPU, and why might it matter for your next system build?

An NPU is a dedicated processor tailored to speed up artificial intelligence and machine learning tasks. CPUs are built for general-purpose computing, and GPUs shine at handling massively parallel operations, but NPUs are specialized for the kinds of mathematical functions that drive AI—things like language understanding, visual recognition, and predictive analytics. Instead of being separate add-on hardware, today’s NPUs come built directly into the processor package alongside the CPU. Their main role is boosting on-device AI features and workloads, though they can also support certain local AI model executions.

Gaming laptop is creeping up in price this generation, but with OLED panels becoming the standard and more power-efficient hardware allowing slimmer builds, things are looking promising. I’ve spent time with all the newest models, and with RTX 5050 systems now available, there’s an option for nearly every budget.

The best gaming laptop I’ve reviewed so far is the HP Omen Max 16. This is a fresh choice, but the 16-inch RTX 5080 machine impressed me in testing and has been receiving heavier discounts off its launch price than its rivals. You’ll find all my top picks below, each one put through a range of in-game trials and dedicated stress-test benchmarks.

I’ve also used every one of these laptops as my daily driver for at least two weeks (and longer when possible). That way, you can be sure they’ve been tested not just for gaming performance but also for everyday use. For details on how I evaluate gaming laptops, check out my full testing guide.

Gaming desk, office desk, home office desk, and gaming desk may seem similar, but there are distinctions between them. The main factor is how they are designed for use. A well-made desk should provide comfort and protect your health by being ergonomic. Computer desks and corner desks are primarily intended to organize documents and maximize workspace. They usually feature drawers, shelves, and come in a wide variety of materials, designs, and finishes.

A gaming desk, on the other hand, is designed with two main goals in mind:

To support you during long gaming sessions, particularly regarding ergonomics and comfort. For this reason, manufacturers offer adjustable-height models and desktops with special shapes.

To complement your gaming setup. Gaming tables are often distinguished from standard office desks by their unique design, bold colors, and customization options.

Ergonomic desks for home offices also exist. However, office furniture companies often either reduce quality and features or charge premium prices, since these products are typically targeted at businesses with larger budgets.

Gaming monitor can significantly enhance your gameplay experience. Whether you enjoy high-speed shooters or expansive story-driven worlds, the display you choose impacts speed, image quality, and overall performance.

This guide explains the key aspects to evaluate, including refresh rates, resolution, panel technologies, and adaptive sync options. You’ll also find suggestions for the best monitors in various categories to support your decision-making.

The refresh rate, measured in hertz (Hz), indicates how many frames per second the screen can show. A higher refresh rate delivers smoother action. Competitive players often go for 144Hz or even 240Hz monitors for maximum responsiveness.

Response time refers to how fast a pixel shifts from one shade to another. Lower response times—usually around 1ms—help minimize motion blur and ghosting, resulting in sharper visuals during fast-moving scenes.

Gaming mouse have evolved significantly in recent years, and now wireless models can match—or even surpass—the latency of some wired ones. While a wired connection can still feel more dependable, the performance difference is barely noticeable for most players. When choosing the right gaming mouse, it’s important to find one that suits your hand size and is comfortable for your grip style. It should also feature a fast polling rate and minimal click delay. Since there’s no universal fit, the best choice will depend on the types of games you play. For example, FPS players might lean toward an ultra-light design, while those who enjoy MOBAs, MMOs, or Battle Royales may benefit from a more versatile mouse with multiple side buttons.

Why take our word for it? Our specialists test every mouse with the same consistent methods to guarantee objective, unbiased results—and we purchase all devices ourselves to remain fully independent. You can review our testing process and see the evidence for yourself.
